Through partnership with IUCN- The International Union for Conservation of Nature, DETRA-Africa consulting team was able to lead a disaster and conflict management process between the Maasai and Kyenjojo communities on the Kenya/Tanzania border over the use and ownership of the Naimina Enkiyio Forest. An understanding was necessary between these two communities because IUCN had secured funding for a forest conservation project (Euro 2.3 Million) and the project could not implement this project without the two groups agreeing. The team also facilitated sessions in Baringo for IUCN over the management of the Lembus Forest Project that was slated to kick off but the politicians had rallied community to oppose this project.
